Michigan has once again demonstrated its strength in the online gambling sector, setting a new single-month record for iGaming revenue. The state’s commercial and tribal gaming operators recorded a staggering $248.2 million in iGaming revenue for January, surpassing the previous record of $244 million set in December 2024.
Revenue Breakdown: A Strong Start to 2025
Total gross receipts across online casino and sports betting reached $331.2 million, reflecting a 25.4% month-over-month increase. iGaming alone accounted for $233.1 million in adjusted gross receipts, while sports betting contributed $54.8 million. While the total sports betting handle dropped slightly from December, iGaming’s continued growth suggests a sustained upward trajectory.
Regulatory Actions and Market Stability
Despite the industry’s success, regulators remain vigilant. The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) recently issued a cease-and-desist letter to BetNow, citing unauthorized operations. The regulator’s firm stance on compliance ensures that licensed operators can continue to thrive in a well-regulated environment.
